The MA Sociology programme provides opportunity to understand human society, behaviour, and systems at a deeper level. The programme seeks to further the academic foundations laid out in the BA programme, and will infuse in students the necessity of critical thought in order that they themselves may become contributors to the discipline. The MA programme is a rigorous, thorough, and vast curriculum; covering matter ranging from the philosophical to the empirical. Students will revisit the classics with a novel perspective, engage in modern and contemporary debates, and will be expected to bring originality to their own arguments. An MA in Sociology prepares individuals with a better understanding of the frameworks of societies and communities around the world, thus making them adept at understanding the modalities of human relationships – be it at individual or organizational levels. These are all abilities of tremendous value in a wide variety of vocational callings and professions.
Sociologists are employed by research institutes, the criminal justice system, public health and welfare organizations, private businesses, law firms, international agencies, medical centers, educational institutions, advertising firms, survey and polling organizations. Sociologists also work in business, human resources and journalism sector, etc.
