B.Sc. Nursing programme is approved by Assam Nurses' Midwives' & Health Visitors' Council (ANMHVC) & Indian Nursing Council (INC)

Eligibility:

i) 10+2 in Science Stream and should have passed in PCB & English as compulsory subject

ii) Scored, minimum 50% marks in PCB taken together

iii) 5% relaxation to SC/ST/OBC- Non- Creamy Layer

iv) Students should be medically fit, and

v) Students must be minimum 17 years of age as on 31st December, of the year in which admission is sought.

Selection:

Based on overall performance in last examination followed by Personal Interview.

Programme Overview:

B.Sc nursing is a 4 years duration Bachelor degree program offered at the university level. The course includes 6 months duration of internship which is specially designed for the students to undergo planned supervised, and intensive practical experience in the hospital and community setting.

The aim of the course is to develop critical thinking skills, competence and standards required to work as a care provider, educator, co-ordinator, advocator, researcher , counselor and administrator , etc .

Career Opportunities:

After completition of the B.sc Nursing course, a graduate nurse can opt to choose either in clinical settings, in community or in academic institutions. There are various scopes for a graduate nurse in different settings. Some of the areas are – Clinical Nurse Specialist , Nurse Anesthetist , Nurse practitioner , Sports nursing , Space nursing , Cruise Nursing , Tele nursing , Aeronautical nursing . They can also work as a Nurse Educator , Nurse researcher , Nurse Administrator , Nurse Author , Nurse Attorney , Nurse Ethicist .

In the community settings, they can work as a School Health Nurse, as a Nurse Counsellor , as a public Health Nurse , Community mental Health Nurse .

In the academic Institutions, they can work as clinical instructors to supervise the student nurses.

Higher Education:

After completion of B.Sc Nursing programme , a nurse graduate can go for higher education in Nursing such as M.Sc Nursing in various specialities , M.Phil , Doctorate in Nursing , Post doc in Nursing.
